Appliance repair from the middle of the Valley
Our office is at 8843 Laurel Canyon Blvd in Sun Valley, a few minutes from the 5 and the 170. That location shapes the work. Most days start in the east Valley and spread out to North Hollywood, Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks and Burbank, then west toward Encino, Tarzana and Woodland Hills or north toward Granada Hills, Porter Ranch and Sylmar.
We repair refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, wine coolers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, microwaves, range hoods, disposals and trash compactors. We install new appliances on existing hookups, clean dryer vents, maintain appliances on a schedule and handle commercial refrigeration, ice machines and laundry equipment for local businesses.

How we approach a repair
Every call starts with a conversation. We ask what the appliance is doing, how long it has been doing it, and the brand and model if you have them. That tells us which parts are most likely involved before the technician arrives.
At the home, the technician tests before replacing anything. A meter on an element, a temperature reading at the evaporator, a look at the drain pump filter. Then you get a clear explanation of what failed and the price of the repair. If the appliance is not worth repairing, we tell you, even though it means a smaller ticket for us.
After the repair we run the appliance through a real cycle, check for leaks and temperatures, and clean up. You get an itemized invoice that lists the part and the work.

Why the Valley keeps us busy
Heat, hard water and dust are hard on appliances. Summers past 100°F push refrigerators and freezers to the edge, hard water scales up dishwashers and ice makers, and Santa Ana winds fill condenser coils and dryer vents with fine dust. Add thousands of 1950s and 1960s ranch homes with laundry in the garage, and the result is steady work in every season.
We write about these local causes in our guides because many repairs can be avoided with a little upkeep, and we would rather you call about the ones that cannot.
Who writes our guides
Our appliance guides are written and edited by Arthur Bellamy, our Appliance Guides Editor, with input from the technicians who handle the repairs. Each guide is reviewed for accuracy and dated when it changes.
